Objectives

With a focused set of priority research areas to complement its set of core competencies and existing expertise, ILSP has formulated a set of objectives that will allow it to address the future challenges, maintain its edge, and remain competitive. These objectives are presented in the following paragraphs.

  • Objective 1 – Enhance all research capabilities in the identified priority research areas
The successful completion of this objective will allow the Institute to maintain its excellence in the field and efficiently keep up with the latest state-of-the-art and the research challenges posed at an EU and/or international level.
  • Objective 2 – Enhance the abilities of the Institute’s research personnel
The successful completion of this objective will allow the Institute to address its needs for new experienced personnel that will be able to fuse knowledge into novel research paths. At the same time, the Institute’s senior researchers, in cooperation with the new experienced personnel, will have the opportunity to set up effective research strategies enabling the Institute to maintain its excellence in the new digital era.
  • Objective 3 – Expand the Institute’s existing pool of potential partners
The successful completion of this objective will allow the Institute to better integrate in the European research area, thus improving the Institute’s potential to create dynamic synergies and participate in future FP7 projects and other national and European funding schemes.
  • Objective 4 – Acquire new and upgrade existing equipment and infrastructure
The successful completion of this objective will allow the Institute to (a) acquire new equipment and infrastructure which is a prerequisite for participating in research proposals and necessary for pursuing novel research approaches such as those posed by the EU challenges, and (b) upgrade its existing equipment and infrastructure in order to meet the every day needs of both the new and the existing personnel.
  • Objective 5 – Disseminate at an international level
The successful completion of this objective will improve the Institute’s visibility both at a European and an international level.
